“Wonder. Beauty enfolded in early morning mist, carried along by the chilly breeze coming from the ocean, which roams every corner of the Rosario Valley. Privileged site to create worlds and stories emerging from the immemorial encounter between the Pacific Ocean, ancient granitic soils and the Cordillera de la Costa…”
*Excerpt from the book “Matetic Vineyards at Rosario Valley, Chile”.
Located between the coastal valleys of Casablanca and San Antonio, the Rosario Valley has ideal conditions for cultivating red and white grape varieties.
Spread out between the Pacific Ocean and the hills of the Coastal Mountains, the valley is completely enclosed and perpendicular to the sea. The proximity of the ocean favors our vineyards, with cool nights, morning fog, and coastal breezes in the afternoons that together, allow the grapes to ripen slowly, producing healthy fruit that in turn make wines with fresh acidity and intense flavors.
The granitic soils are rich in quartz and low in nutrients, allowing for good root exploration and excellent drainage.

Our modern wine cellar, designed by the Matetic Vineyards’ team together with the architect Laurence Odfjell, was built in 2004, taking into account every detail of the winemaking process and the care of the environment. It harmonizes the organic and biodynamic agriculture practiced in the vineyard and the natural landscape of the valley, merging with its surroundings.
With a capacity of 600 thousand liters, it has a design of gravitational flow, which allows for a delicate handling of the grape at every stage of the process, from reception and selection to fermentation and subsequent aging in barrels.
The winery has 3 underground rooms for the storage of almost 1,800 barrels, with the optimal conditions of humidity and temperature, where our wines are aged between 12 and 22 months in French oak barrels.
